DataBahn Raises $40 Million to Put AI in Charge of Enterprise Data Pipelines
The Texas startup wants companies to stop moving every byte of data everywhere and start routing only what actually matters, in real time.

Key points
- DataBahn closed a $40 million Series B round on an unspecified date in 2025, bringing its total funding to $59 million.
- The round was led by investment firm Insight Partners, with returning backers Forgepoint, GTM Capital, and S3 Ventures also participating.
- Founded in 2023, DataBahn sells software that automatically decides which data gets sent where, and when, across a company's systems.
- The company plans to spend the money on research and development and on expanding its core product.
DataBahn, a two-year-old startup based in Texas, has closed a $40 million Series B funding round. The news, first reported by SecurityWeek, brings the company's total investment to $59 million since its founding in 2023.
What does DataBahn actually do?
In plain terms, the company helps large organisations stop drowning in their own data. Most big businesses collect enormous amounts of information from dozens of sources: security tools, factory floor sensors, cloud applications, and more. Moving all of it everywhere is expensive and slow.
DataBahn's software acts as a kind of intelligent traffic controller. It sits across a company's data streams and automatically picks out only the information that a given system or AI model actually needs at that moment, then routes it there. The company calls this an "agentic data control plane", meaning software that acts on its own initiative rather than waiting for a human to press a button.
The product also handles data governance, which is the set of rules about who is allowed to see what information and under what conditions. That part matters increasingly because regulators in the US, the EU, and elsewhere are asking companies to prove they know where sensitive data lives and who can touch it.
Why does this matter for security?
From an identity and access perspective, the interesting piece is governance. Knowing exactly which data flows to which destination, and locking that down, is a prerequisite for catching the kind of lateral movement that follows a credential theft or a session hijack. A company that cannot see its own data routing cannot tell whether an AI model is quietly being fed information it should never receive.
DataBahn says its fabric covers security data alongside operational technology data (software running physical machinery), IoT data (connected devices), and application observability data (logs that show how software is behaving).

CEO and co-founder Nanda Santhana framed the company's pitch simply: "The next generation of enterprise infrastructure won't be built around moving more data. It will be built around intelligently orchestrating the right data at the right time."
The funding will go toward research and development and expanding the agentic control plane product.
